CFP
MSA Group

Pluggable
transceiver modules compliant to the CFP MSA will be used
on these 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s interfaces. The CFP MSA is
defining the specifications required to support multiple
applications using the same form factor. These applications
include various protocols (such as 40GbE, 100GbE, OC-768/STM-256,
OTU3), media types (multimode and single mode fiber optics)
and link distances. The CFP MSA utilizes numerous innovative
features like advanced thermal management, EMI management
and 10Gb/s signal integrity design to define the transceiver
mechanical form factor, the optical connector, the 10x10Gb/s
electrical connector with its pin assignments, the MDIO-based
transceiver management interface and the hardware required
on the system host board
This
Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) defines the form factor of
an optical transceiver which can support 40Gbit/s and
100Gbit/s interfaces for Ethernet, Telecommunications
and other applications. The electrical interface will
vary by application, but the nominal signaling lane rate
is 10Gbit/s and documentation is provided for CAUI, XLAUI,
SFI-S and SFI-5.2 electrical interface specifications.
The CFP module may be used to support single mode and
multimode fiber optics. http://www.cfp-msa.org/press.html.

Telcordia
Technologies

Telcordia
is uniquely positioned to provide in-depth, expert consulting
regarding this GR (Generic Requirements), including knowledge
of how these generic requirements are used by telecommunication
carriers in selecting products to meet their deployment
needs.
The
Generic Requirements document (GR) presents minimum spatial
and environmental criteria for all new telecommunications
equipment used in Central Offices (COs) and other environmentally
controlled telephone equipment spaces. These criteria
were developed jointly by Telcordia and industry representatives.
They are applicable to switching and transport systems,
associated cable distribution systems, distributing and
interconnecting frames, power equipment, operations support
systems, and cable entrance facilities. Compliance with
these requirements may increase network robustness, simplify
equipment installation, and promote the economical planning
and engineering of equipment spaces.
All
optoelectronic devices used within CFP MSA modules designed
by CFP manufacturers meet the reliability requirements
as specified per Telcordia GR-468-CORE (Generic Reliability
Assurance Requirements for Optoelectronic Devices Used
in Telecommunications Equipment).
In
addition, the CFP MSA modules are for use in equipment
to be qualified per Telcordia
GR-63-CORE Network Equipment-Building System (NEBS) Requirements
for Physical Protection.

have been working together in the interests of European
harmonization since the 1950s, creating both standards
requested by the market and harmonized standards in support
of European legislation and which have helped to shape
the European Internal Market. CENELEC works with 15,000
technical experts from 30 European countries. Its work
directly increases market potential, encourages technological
development and guarantees the safety and health of consumers
